Have you noticed that creativity is encouraged early in life, but adolescence interested in becoming artisans are advised against it. Its the idea that you can’t make a living doing what you love. They’re encouraged to put that creative energy into academics and sports. After all, a creative mind can be utilized in unexpected places. Why must we give up art for the academics?
Before I discovered my passion for writing, I considered myself an artist in the making. I felt at home in the art classroom. My family used holidays and birthdays to fuel my curiosity with various kits. This went on from K-12 Grade. Then the decline started. By my college years, I stopped creating for the fun of it. I made several attempts to get back into it.
To this day, a majority of my art supplies lay dormant in a cabinet. Yet, I’m constantly restocking my kids are shelf. This realization inspired today’s Motivational Monday. Its okay to create for the fun of it. Not everything we do needs to have monetary value. You can create without the intent of selling your creations. Creating for you is enough.
