I am a sucker for themed displays. There is something about those cube shaped bookshelves full of books just waiting to be read. That’s how I found Once More Upon A Time by Roshani Chokshi. Truth be told, my TBR list is a little backed up. The cover art is appealing. Plus the books about the size of a small photo album (5 in by 7 in). This made the 144 page book a nice bite-size summer read. So, naturally, I disregarded my list for a quick treat.

First Impression
Roshani Chokshi, the author, decided to use each chapter to give us a first person perspective from the Prince, the Princess, and the witch that seems to have nothing better to do. Length can vary. Out of the three, the witch has the least to say for someone that makes shady deals. It’s interesting to get a real-time perspective from the cursed lovers. There are times when the setting was hard to follow, but it wasn’t enough to make me put the book down.
Takeaways From The Story
In a way, the story addresses parental fear and how it’s used to mold children. Some people just do things to watch the world burn. They don’t need to be provoked into it. Unfortunately, they may cross your path. Immediately accepting defeat may lead to regret and missed opportunities. it’s okay for our wants and needs to change. If a couple is willing to grow together, a marriage doesn’t have to feel like you’re giving up your freedom. Lastly, not all things are absolute or black and white.
