If XO is the King of the Fall, then Breezy is the King of Summer Features. Ciara and Chris Brown casually dropped a Summer bop and music video today. The vocals, choreography, and cinematography align with the artistry these two are known for. I caught wind of this development Thursday (8/3) and had to make sure y’all knew about it ASAP! You see, Ciara post reels of photo shoots all the time. I didn’t think much of it till I noticed who was leaning on her. Then, I was like omg that’s Chris Brown. What’s going on?! A simple caption followed by a banner took over my original plans for Trisha’s Go In Fridays. I regret nothing.

Some readers may question my love for these two, because the collaboration was mentioned April 2023. To be fair, Breezy did not give a detailed timeline of the Collab, but a soft announcement happened regardless. Since fans were cheated out of Cici and Breezy’s 40th Anniversary Michael Jackson “Thriller” Tribute at the American Music Awards. Considering rehearsal clips are out there, the snub was a last minute decision. We didn’t have to wait a full calendar year later to see them together again.
First Thoughts
Like MJ and Missy Elliott are known for, your going to get a lil bit of acting in the beginning of the video. This sets the tone for how much the duo will interact with each other throughout the song. If you haven’t seen that video yet. Ciara and Chris Brown end up throwing a party the same night. Rather than cancel, each will just wait and see what the Streets say about their parties. This isn’t an unusual concept for an R&B video.
Where they take it to the next level is throwing a house party in a three room semi-truck. Due to the size of the setting, each singer is accompanied by a small crew. I was thrown off by this, because both gatherings were smaller than expected. Near the end of the video, we see a playful battle between Ciara and Chris Brown on a plank. Keep in mind, visually these parties are being thrown on semi-trucks. By the end both parties blend to make one home.
Final Thoughts
Despite how loved both of these R&B artist are I think this is the first time they’ve collaborated. To my knowledge, Ciara debuted before Chris Brown, but both are praised for their vocals and dance skills. Aside from award shows, I can’t recall a feature from either artist. As a fan of both, this felt overdue and right on time.
I’ll admit sing-a-long wise, Chris Brown and Drake’s “No Guidance” is better than “How We Roll”. In the words of The Weeknd, this is not a sing-a-long. It’s a vibe. This is cruising, club, and barbeque music all wrapped in one. You can enjoy it alone or with others. Thank you for spending Friday with me. I hope you have a great weekend. Feel free to stop by next week for Motivational Mondays with Trisha!
