Last week I was scrolling Instagram and came across a sponsored post for Welcome Home, Franklin. In my opinion, it was a nice Black History Month surprise. So, naturally I looked into where I could find it. I assumed it would air on ABC. Then reality set in. Welcome Home, Franklin is only available to stream on Apple Tv+
If you expected to watch it on ABC, it won’t be on TV/Cable either. Franklin Armstrong is a significant character in the Peanuts Gang. During the peak of Civil Unrest in the United States, Charles M Schulz created Franklin Armstrong. He wasn’t obligated to do so and faced backlash for it. Yet, he stood his ground. So a special about him is appreciated, but still seems restricted.
On the surface, this looks like Welcome Home, Franklin is being restricted. It turns out recent Snoopy Presents Specials are exclusively produced with and streamed by Apple TV+. So far the platform has streamed five movies. Those are For Auld Lang Syne, It’s The Small Things Charlie Brown, Lucy’s School, To Mom (and Dad), With Love, and One-of-a-kind Marcie. That makes Welcome Home Franklin the sixth special to date. The average IMDb rating for those three is 6.7/10.

I grew up in a generation that watched The Peanuts on TV. Of course that’s before streaming came along. Back then you didn’t need a cable subscription to watch it. Just some bunny ears (antennas). So my black inner child was excited Franklin got a special. In the same instance, I was disappointed he’d only stream on one platform. That’s I wanted to share this information with y’all. Apple TV+ is available to download on the Google Play Store for Android users. However, the ratings are poor. It’s likely, I won’t be able to watch it.
