Did anyone growing up think Dove Bars were soap? Cause they are not. It’s sold in the Bath & Body section of most stores, but it’s location is very misleading. It turns out Beauty Bars are meant to clean dirt without stripping your skin’s natural oils. Although soap is harsh, your skin gets a deeper clean from it than beauty bars. That also means that your skin is more likely to dry out. It’s important to find happy medium between the two. Our bodies need to be cleaned and moisturized.
Beauty Bars may smell nice, but they aren’t meant to get rid of the skin our bodies naturally shed. Don’t be alarmed it’s a very small percentage that is shed throughout the day. For a better example of what Beauty Bars do, think of hand soap. The type of clean you want determines how effective it is; as well as, your skin’s reaction to it. It’s getting bacteria killing hand soap. It’s killing 99.9% of the germs but your hands are only getting a surface level clean. If you don’t get a cream based hand soap, your hands are more likely to dry out througout
Getting back to full body soap, I prefer bodywash. Growing up, I recall my family buying beauty bars instead, because bar soap like Irish Spring was to abrasive. So, I can understand why some household buy Dove Beauty Bars for fully body use. It’s more gentle and you’ll use less lotion to replenish the natural oils you lost. Yet, it’s still not soap.

Dove’s marketing and packaging can lead one to believe that’s it’s intended use. What protects the product from false advertising is the wording. It may look like soap but the box says beauty bar. To get a deeper clean, you’d need to get Dove Bodywash. Not beauty bar.
Overall I thought beauty bars have an interesting distinction that I wasn’t aware of. Nowadays, I’m more likely to use products Olay bodywash over dove. It’s a sent and lather preference for me. Since I haven’t brought back Trisha Goes In Fridays, it felt like good time to share this tidbit with y’all. Thanks for spending time with me. Hope you stop by for Motivational Mondays with Trisha!
