In case it wasn’t obvious, Mystery Post Tuesday topic was inspired by hopequesting. Kawaiicoco, which loosely translates to adorable chocolate, is a brand ambassador for Kimono Reborn Tokyo. This Tokyo based apparel and accessories company ships upcycled kimonos internationally. Since Kawaii Coco lives in Japan, her account provides a third party view of many business like Kimono Reborn Tokyo. Naturally, I had to look into this. In case your curious, this was the post I stumbled upon.
Why Upcycle Kimonos?
Believe it or not, Kimonos used to be daily attire in Japanese culture. Western trends have shifted these garments to special occasions wear. Although some citizens still wear them daily. In most cases, it’s for work related reasons. Still, Kimonos are delicate and expensive. If they aren’t stored and cared for properly, they must be retired. The kimono making process from start to finish is a labrous one. When a Kimono is no longer presentable, it is truly a loss. Giving them new life, is a way to honor their creators and perseve their beauty. That’s what I appreciate about Kimono Reborn Tokyo.
“Reviving the sleeping beauty of Japan and passing on beauty and rare technology to the next generation.“
Kimono Reborn Tokyo’s Mission Statement
What I Like
I know sizing is tricky with international shipping. So, I prefer to get accessories. Just like clothes, bags come in a variety of shapes and sizes. At this phase in my life, I prefer backpacks and totes.

Before You Buy
If you’re purchasing these upcycled products, consider reviewing Kimono Reborn Tokyo’s legal conditions. Keeping that in mind, don’t forget to review their size chart as well.

Final Thoughts
Kimono Reborn Tokyo is one of many hidden gems that Kawaii Coco shares. If your interested in Travel and/or Japanese culture from a Western Perspective, I recommend following her. As a black content creator, she provides a valuable perspective for minorities as well. That being said, she doesn’t exclusively create content for a specific group of people. She doesn’t sugar coat her experiences either. The world we imagine isn’t everyone’s reality. So, I appreciate the full circle view the upholds.
