Lore Olympus Volume 4

Although the Lore Olympus Series Finale had a mixed reception, it’s still important to track the webcomics print journey. Webtoons are gradually becoming a “new normal” for creators to get their work printed. One might wonder, why would they need it printed? For starters:

  • Readers need wifi or data to read these comics.
    • Though it may seem unlikely, there are still potential readers that don’t have access to a phone, tablet, or computer.
  • Paywalls can discourage free readers.
    • Strict budget readers won’t read till they’re free or will drop the series all together.
  • Many creators and writes want a physical manifestation of their work.
    • Any that experienced loosing digital data will no that not everything is recoverable when you’re using a third party to share your vision. A book is tangible proof that they created.

Now that I’ve gotten that off my mind, let’s get into Lore Olympus Volume 4. By the way, Lore Olympus is officially Daily Pass on Webtoon. If you fast passed previous episodes, they’ll stay unlocked

Overview

Before we get into the drama, we need to pinpoint the left and right limits of this graphic novel. This volume covers Episode 76 thru 102. Unfortunately, there are no extra episodes this time. Instead, it’s more of a behind the scenes with Commentary from Rachel Smythe.  The featured sketches are gray scaled with a blue cloudy border. Getting back to the story, we got a sneak preview of the Dread Queen at the end of Volume Three, but we know that Perse and Hades are not together. So, how do we get there.

The Goddess of Marriage Approves

If it wasn’t clear Hera was Hades off again off again Friends with Benefits. Although Hera is interested in getting Perse hitched. She’s not going to put forth someone that’s still physically and emotionally clinging to her. So, we see Hera tempt Hades to see how he reacts to her advances. Good news is, Hades is over Hera and draws a line in the sand between them moving Forward. This gets Hades put in the running for Perse’s hand in marriage.

Addressing The Elephant In The Room

Although Persephone is inexperienced, she’s not naive. During her time in the Mortal Realm. Zues abandoned plenty of compromised Nymphs with her mother Demeter. Rather than wait for nature to take it’s course, Persephone decides to visit a clinic. Fortunately, her nymph like appearances, allows her to visit drawing unwanted attention.

Daddy’s Home

Speaking of Nymphs, an ambitious Sea Nymph (future mother of Achilles) decided to stir the pot between Hades and Hera. She sends suggestive photos from a blocked number to Hera. Naturally, the Goddess of Marriage is full of rage towards her unfaithful husband. A heated argument summons Aires, God of War. Hera’s Wrath mixed with Persephone’s Wrath was more than enough to bring him back to Olyumpus.

The Calvary Is Here

There are two situations where Persephone is protected from Apollo. The first is Hades. Apollo is basically stalking and harassing Perse into a delusional relationship that she wants no part of. He feels unjustly entitled to her. Hades isn’t having it. Thankfully, Broseidon (Poseidon) takes Apollo on an involuntary Bros night out. Courtesy of Hades cause homeboy wouldn’t leave on his own. Our next situation is clueless Artemis pushes Persephone to eat crepes affectionately prepade for by her stalker. Once again, Artemis leaves Perse alone with Apollo. The two get into an emotionally charged argument and Eros refuses to stand by for it. He saves Persephone and takes her to his home.

Unexpected Ex

Okay, I’ll admit that title is a bit click batish but this will address the suggestive cover. There’s a reason Perse and Aries have history. The two met while Perse was still in the Mortal Realm. Aries pretended to be illiterate and Perse fell for it. He thought he needed an excuse to see her and Perse wanted friends. During one of their study sessions, the two start making out. Things seem to be going Aries way, but Perse uncovers a lot of his work amongst his possessions. Feeling betrayed and duped, Perse calls her mother. She fabricates a story that paints him in a terrible light. Demeter’s bear down was hilarious, but this decreased the little to no privacy Perse had moving forward. So, her revenge was a double edged sword.

Final Thoughts

Hades senses the tension between Apollo and Persephone. He’s witnessed Apollos aggression towards Persephone on multiple occasions. They typically occur around Artemis home. Persephone shows physical signs of distress as well. He’s not sure what’s wrong, but he knows Perse doesn’t like him. If you were expecting him to figure out what happened this volume, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that’s a negative ghost rider. There are few things I haven’t mentioned to avoid spoiling the entire volume. I hope this is enough information,to give you an idea of how the plot is going. Thanks for spending time with me. Enjoy the rest of your we
