You’d be surprised how many webcomics go unfinished, because Webtoon puts the coin lock on the last three episodes. They maybe 3 Coins each, but Webtoon has decreased it’s Coin events overtime in favor of making users interact with third party apps for coins. With the plethora of Webcomics available without paywalls, the need to know how the story ends diminishes. In fact, Webtoon Users already face several non-coin issues.
Contractual Differences
Who remembers Let’s Play? Well that Romance/Gamer Webtoon is an incomplete series, because the creator and platform couldn’t come to an agreement. A majority of her readers/supporters were understanding. This is just one of the ways fans get cut off. Another is writer/burnout rushed endings.
The story [Crumbs] has a satisfying conclusion. The ending tied enough loose ends that it didn’t feel abrupt. Lately, I’ve come across series with abrupt endings like Edith and Assassin Roommate. So, I’m glad Crumbs did not have a similar fate.

Unfinished Business
Even late fan binge readers can sense an abrupt ending. It can be a number of things. Such as, unresolved issues, neglecting to circle back to characters that moved the plot along, anticlimactic conclusions, and the list goes on. Compared to webnovels, this is where webcomics have a disadvantage. Readers expect creators to illustrate the plot. Whereas a webnovel relies on the readers imagination. So heavy text with a few panels can feel like an PPT presentation.
Final Thoughts
I’m glad that Daily Pass Original creators are finding a way to make sure their main stories don’t go unfinished. It’s fair to assume a stories overall reception from beginning to end impacts the Creator/Platform relationship for future projects. Daily Pass Comics will likely stay Daily Pass upon completion. Completing the main story without including side stories to move the finale out of the paywall, can deter future readers from starting th comic.
After all, Webtoon continues to decrease free coin opportunities that done require third party verification. Countless webcomic comment sections have proven, free readers will leave a compelling story unfinished. They might finish the story months down the line, because Daily Pass Episodes are the cheapest episodes to unlock, but there’s no guarantee users will cash them on those locked finales. Not when there’s other webcomic platforms out there.
