Last Friday, I watched Found on Peacock. Like other episodes, there were twists and turns mixed with heart warming moments. I was excited for this weeks episode. While I was searching for Pollen Memes over the weekend, I received a Google News Notification with bad news. Found was cancelled. This felt abrupt, because the Season Finale is May 15. Why spring this on us now?
What’s Found?
Let me back track, A teenage girl was targeted and abducted by her teacher. After several failed attempts, she managed to escape. However, law enforcement was unable to apprehended him. As a result, her experience motivated her to establish and agency dedicated to finding victims that are less likely to receive timely help. Found reveals biases that society has on specific demographic, as well as, the attention to detail needed to find a needle in a hay stack.

During Season One, Gabi is harboring her kidnapper. We don’t know right away how she abducts him, but he’s basically an unpaid consultant for her missing persons cases. Season One ends with him escaping the basement and implies he’s captured one of the Modley & Associates (M&A). Season Two starts as a manhunt for Sir, he’s eventually captured, but Gabby did commit a crime.
We see how Gabi’s choices are affecting her friendships and relationships. Needing to be in a place of control, the apprehended kidnapper, Sir, won’t accuse Gabi of kidnapping. Where do we go from here? The police and M&A begin hunting for his accomplice. Once Sir escaped from Gabi’s basement, he didn’t have the resources to come and go as he pleases. So that’s Season Two’s main story line.
What’s So Great About Found
To me, Found has a compelling story with a well rounded cast. Each of their character’s are flawed which makes them frustratingly relatable. This makes it possible to feel empathetic towards them. Their choices will have you on the edge of your seat too.
There aren’t many current televised dramas that I look forward to watching relatively close to their broadcast date. After all, I tend to be a late to the game kind of fan, but that was not the case. Since giving Season One a try, I make it a point to keep on the look out for the next episode.
Major choices were made that can and most likely would come with heavy consequences. If they aren’t quickly resolved on Friday, we won’t see the long term impact of those choices.
What Now?
This abrupt announcement reminds me of how NBC pulled the plug on Grand Crew as well. A refreshingly different show gone too soon. Back in 2023, I thought Grand Crew was a victim of the Writers Guild and the Actors Guild Strikes. The aftermath of those congruent strikes got many shows cancelled. That’s not the case with Found. In fact, the reasoning behind it, has been vague.
Depending on how people receive this news it could increase or decrease Season Two Finale views. They’ll be curiosity to see how soon the cast and crew knew this cancelation was coming. That might be evident on how neatly loose ends are tied.
Gabi is still riddled with the guilt of abducting her kidnapper. This may be why last week’s episode ended with a serious cliffhanger. Sir’s assistant went rouge. Sir’s actions and Gabi’s guilt should collide this Thursday. Can that really be resolved in a forced Series Finale. I don’t think so.
Final Thoughts
In the end, I hope Found can get picked up somewhere else like Brooklyn Nine Nine. I’m not saying Found needs to be a 100 Episode Series, but we aren’t done with Gabi and Sir. An optimistic conclusion isn’t required either. Just an opportunity to see the story through to the end.
