You know whats annoying about summer to me? Its the fact that you can’t trust the forecast. I don’t mean the cliché of a polar opposite weather forcast. I mean anticipating how hot it’s actually going to be.
Many smartphones have built-in weather widgets. You don’t have to engage with the app, because the icon will show you today’s temperature. So you’ll think it’ll be in the lower 90s, but it feels like it’s over 100 degrees.
With that drastic difference, I’d rather the weather app treated the feel temp as the true temperature, but there’s a reason they don’t. The reported temperature measures the air not the humidity.

Humidity doesn’t play nice with hot air. It’s similar to how fog is caused by low temperatures and dew points. There is moisture in the air, but it isn’t rising like it should. This disrupts your body’s natural cooling system.
The moisture from the humidity prevents our sweat from cooling our bodies down. This puts us at risk of heat injuries because our bodies are retaining heat.

Some of us have jobs that make it difficult to stay indoors during a heat index. Not all occupations have seasonal appropriate uniform options. Heat injuries are dangerous. If you or someone you care for falls in that category, try to keep cold beverages and food accessible.
