Things To Consider Before Using Instacart

It seems the more society advances, the further away necessities are located. Think about the grocery industry, local establishments were put out of business by the vast inventory provided by large chain stores. Mobility determines how frequently customers are able to visit super centers that took out ma and pa stores.

This is partially why convenience stores like the dollar store industry have an ever growing grocery section. Depending on the area, they’re within walking distance. Customers can take care of their needs at inconvenient prices. That’s were Instacart can seem like it can save people time and money.

What’s Instacart

Well, it’s not Uber Eats or DoorDash, because it doesn’t deal with restaurants,  but it has a similar setup. Instacart is a grocery delivery service. Shoppers use the prepaid order to search and bag your goods. If the run into any snags, the shopper can reach out to the customer for more guidance.  Upon completion, they head over to your residence and bring the groceries inside. Sounds pretty good but nothing is perfect.

Multiple Locations Doesn’t Mean Multiple Drivers

During my trial period, I ordered groceries from two stores on the opposite side of town. One driver accepted both trips. So, it took over three hours to get them. More than likely,  this happened because the orders were placed within minutes of each other.

Items Are Upcharged

This may not be a big deal for this with disposable income. If you’ve got a tight budget, this should be only used when transportation cost are unreasonable or unavailable. You’re not getting walk-in prices with instacart. That’s not including delivery fee and tip for the driver.

Not All Stores Are Partnered with Instacart

Instacart will show you which stores are available in your area, but this third party hasn’t monopolized the delivery industry.  In fact, some establishments deliver their own inventory. So it’s not a one stop shop.

Store Search Can Be A Nightmare

In general, store apps aren’t perfect. How you phrase an item will dictate what the search bar gives you. Do you think a third party would have full access to the stores inventory.   Based on my experience, the answer is no. A detailed product description doesn’t guarantee accurate search results.

Final Thoughts

I am thankful that instacart is available. It’s a service that is useful for ablebodies and those with disabilities. However, you’re going to spend more money shopping this way. It’s important to determine whether it’s a necessity or a luxury for your lifestyle.
