Cozy Games : Animal Restaurant

You know what’s better than doom scrolling? Playing cozy mobile games. If you find the right fit, they can be a soothing way to be present. At the same time, an abundance of ads with no in-game benefits can be counterproductive.  These reasons are why I decided to open my very own restaurant run by cats.

There’s enough chaos to prevent it from becoming mundane. The restaurant is able to profit 24/7 and doesn’t require continues interaction from the owner. Not to say, there aren’t daily profitable tasks. It’s more like you don’t have to be glued to your phone. Between Seasonal Activites and Restaurant Mikestones, there’s plenty of reasons to help your cats succeed.

What I’ve Unlocked So Far

Although Animal Restaurant has in-app purchases,  you can expand your restaurant without spending money.  You might watch more ads then you care to admit, but that only cost you time. Plus, daily achievements, milestone rewards, and seasonal events will get you in-game funds to expand your restaurant.

  1. Court Yard ~ this area hosts entertainers, a playable arcade machine and home for your pet. You can hit the cheer button to invite animals to your courtyard. There’s a sign that allows you to visit friends and make new ones.
  2. Restaurant ~ this area has the capacity to sit 6 animals (1 per table). However, there facility items you can buy to entice your customers to spend more money. Decorations help you generate income too.
  3. Buffet ~ If you’re familiar with conveyor belt sushi. Customer pay by plate, which can add up quickly. You can add a gotchaball machine that’ll give you a daily free draw. Plates and a growing star rating are the only ways to add new food to the buffet. Animals will host business meeting and dinner parties here too.
  4. Garden ~ The Garden is useful for increasing your restaurants reputation, because animals like viewing flowers here. The wishing well provided daily wishes too.  Maintaining your garden is necessary to purchase stock for your delivery team.
  5. Fishing Pond ~ when you unlock this area, you’ll need a fishercat. Unlike the chef cat, you’ll control where he casts the line. You’ll get a limited amount of daily worms for fishing. Don’t fret you can buy more with in-game currency or watch ads for more bait. Fishes caught here can be used to attract vendors or buy inventory for your delivery cats.
  6. Take-out ~ Customers can order from four categories.  Those are drinks, snacks, frozen treats, and fruit.  The amount and type vary, which will impact delivery time. You can hire two permanent delivery drivers and ask friends to fill in for you, but they must have the takeout area unlocked already. As mentioned before, you can’t use fish funds to restock.  You’ll earn bells and stars from these deliveries.
  7. Terrace ~ This is for customers that are taking a trip. After the meal,  they spend time enjoying the amenities. As the host,  they may ask you to play mini games.  Also, you can dictate the first three customers that show up. Its up to them how many guest they bring along. However, you’ll need to have all the dining tools they request for their group to arrive. Unfortunetally, spinning bottles is the only way to restock. If you run out of bottles,  you’ll use bells or ads for more.
  8. Vegetable Garden ~ this is a new facility that was added over the summer. Here, you can grow and sell produce for buttons. This currency is used to buy accessories and outfits for your staff. There’s an on-site kitchen where you refine meals. Each dish has a certain amount of perfect dishes you must make to hit 100% perfection.  Once you do that, you can deliver dishes and flowers to customers.  Unlike the takeout area, no one leaves to deliver the food.

Overall, each area has the ability to generate passive income. This depends on the quality of the furniture and appliances that you purchase for your restaurant. Since staff are not paid hourly, they receive large lump sum payments. Eventually, you’ll max out their raises, but this isn’t a quick process. Its really upto you how the restaurant does in your absence.

Final Thoughts

I definitely prefer playing this game to doom scrolling or hopequesting. Between the music and game mechanics,  Animal Restaurant is a soothing game. I don’t feel mentally overstimulated for playing it. Although there are daily incentives to play the game, this mobile game continues without you. Unlike games like Animal Crossing, Animal Restaurant continues without you.

I know that’s not a fair comparison because they are different games. That being said, you can’t make passive income during an Animal Crossing Hiatus.  It’s just something to think about. Thanks for spending time with me, hope you’ll be back for Motivational Mondays with Trisha!
