No Bake Winter Treat…Well Anytime Of Year

Over the weekend, I decided to finally attempt Puppy Chow, also known as, Muddy Buddies. Typically, you’d use whatever flavor Chex Ceral that you want. Then you’d bind it with melted chocolate and peanut butter. Lastly, it’s time to coat it with powdered sugar. Pretty simple, right? Well, what do you do when you used the last of your chocolate chips for banana bread? You search for alternatives.

So, I had a theory that I could substitute Hazelnut Speard for chocolate chips. The flavor is similar and it has an ice cream fudge consistency.  Since this was my first time attempting Puppy Chow, I wanted to get my ratio right. Oddly enough, the first few search results had recipes calling for chocolate chips not Nutella. Discouraged, I thought I’d have to give up.

Fortunately, my search was not insane. In fact, it was easier because Nutella appears to be melted already. So, you can heat and blend it with peanut butter fairly quickly.  From their blend it well with Chex and toss it in a powdered sugar gallon fridge bag till completely coated. They came out great and filled the Gallon Ziploc bag. I divided into two storage containers. This simple recipe is pretty inexpensive to make and will satisfy a sweet tooth. Although,  Chex sells pre-made, buying an 18 Oz box of Chex Cereal is about the sane. So, get your powdered, sugar, peanut butter, and Chexs. Let’s get to work.
