Last fall. I was getting tired of using Scotch Brite sponges. At first they were my go to sponge. The multi packs were affordable. The scrubber did a good job on tough stains. It felt like, I’d have to replace my sponge sooner, because of the scrubber’s short life span. If I pushed through that, the sponge would eventually fall a part as well. Obviously, there is a reason these sponges arent sold individually. Before your out of luck, multi packs give you a chance to buy more. So, why switch to a single sponge?
Quality Over Quantity
A Scrub Mommy has a thick scrubber layer and sponge layer. If you compare the two. Scrub mommy has the density of three Scotch Brite sponges. Also, Scrub Mommy doesn’t hold on to odors or food residue. Now, you’ll still have to squeeze/ring out these sponges between uses, but it wont end up greasy or grimey. All that considered, you’re using one sponge that has the life expectancy of three Scotch Brite sponges.

Keep In Mind
Now, it does fall a part but not for the reasons you may think. The facial expression on the standard and seasonal Sponge Mommy is its only design flaw. Yes they’re cute, but rigorous use will eventually split that sponge into two. Also, these sponges make it very easy to turn you’re sink into a bubble bath. So, you’ll have to be mindful of how much dish soap you’re using. Honestly, this draw back isn’t really a draw back. You’ll save money on dish detergent overtime too.
Final Thoughts
Brand loyalty overtime isn’t always sustainable. If something is no longer serving you, you should try out other brands. That’s why I decided to try Scrub Mommy, because those sponges have the longevity that I wish Scotch Brite had. To me, a brand selling single sponges are very confident in their products quality. Based on my experience, they have the right to be. Eventually, I plan to get Scrub Mommy multi pack. Just because its easier to already have a new sponge ready to go. Not because it has a short life span.
