Recently an ice storm made its way across the U.S. There were plenty of reels and TikToks telling people how to prepare. There’s things you’d expect like extra water, instant processed food, dried fruits/meats, pasta, toiletries and so on. What about coffee? If you’ve gotta conserve energy or completely lose power, how are you going to make coffee?

Some people might think, why are you worried about that? Well, storms like this can put people on edge. For some, coffee takes the edge. Rather than wait for the other shoe to drop, we can take measures to ensure coffee is available.
Things To Keep On Hand
The following are emergency pantry suggestions to soothe coffee needs:
- Dry Coffee Creamer – comes in different flavors and will last longer than liquid/refrigerated creamer
- Instant Coffee – this is available in single use packets or a jar. Depending on the brand it can be weak or strong. Some people mix them daily with their protein supplement.
- Tea Kettle – this heats water quick for multiple uses. An electric one is great. The stove top Kettle will get the job done as well
- Syrup – These blend better with hot or cold coffee than granulated sugar. If cant get your coffee as hot as you’d like, the syrup will still blend well. They dont need to be refrigerated after opening either.
- On-the-go Coffee Cups – reduces water needed to wash coffee mugs. Is designed to handle the heat. These aren’t cheap, but arent perishable food.
- Individual Drip Cofffee – these come with a filter that you place slightly above your cup. Pour hot water into the patch. It’ll drip into your mug like a coffee pot but slower

Final Thoughts
It’s important to put thought into your emergency pantry. This section of your home is meant to provide sustenance during uncertain times. Experiencing out of the norm weather can be nerve wracking. Minor inconveniences, like lack of coffee, can turn into triggers.
We should Mitigate frustration by covering our needs. Even, I didn’t consider keeping dry creamer around, but now see the value in it. Whether you’re a coffee drinker or not, I hope this post has made you think about your pantry. Thank you to all who spend time here. Hope you’ll be back for Motivational Mondays with Trisha!
