Last Sunday afternoon, I watched the 72 min ( Actually 52 min) Demon Slayer Season Finale. Fans of the series know that Swordsmith Village Arc consisted of 11 Episodes. Fans were promised over 70 min of animation for the premiere and finale, but both were barely an hour. Plus, some of that initial screentime rehashed action from the previous episode or arc. Nonetheless, the finale had a few close calls, flashbacks, backstories, and the aftermath of the attack on the Swordsmith Village. Length wise, this arc was longer than Mugen Train Arc and the Entertainment District Arc. Overall it didn’t feel like we got a shortened season in favor of another “movie.” I’m thankful that Funimation is still streaming new episodes of Demon Slayer. I didn’t have to wait for Hulu to pick it up. Nor be at the mercy of Anime Spoiler content creators.

What’s Demon Slayer
In an effort to avoid Swordsmith Village Arc spoilers, I forgot to tell you what Demon Slayer is? Sorry about that 😅. If you stuck around waiting for an explanation, I appreciate it! Demon Slayers are people that go through a series of training and testing to join the Demon Slayer Corp. People that survive the training are thrusted into missions to extinguish demon attacks throughout Japan. Side Note: there are support roles within the corp. The amount of warriors available is smaller than one would think. Due to the size of the corp, it’s not unusual for rookies to be dispatched on solo mission. Since this series takes place during the industrial revolution.
A family is attacked by demons and only two members survive – Tanjiro and his sister Nezuko, who is turning into a demon slowly. Tanjiro sets out to become a demon slayer to avenge his family and cure his sister.
Demon Slayer, IMDb Summary
There is a mixture of people who are wary of demon attacks and others that view these threats as old wives tales. Regardless of a potential victims beliefs, demons of this era are still an active threat. The series protagonist, Tanjiro Kamado did not aspire to become a Demon Slayer. Like many within the corp, he suffered a traumatic loss that would motivate him to get Nezuko’s humanity back. The ultimate goal is destroying Muzan Kibutsuji, the Demon King. The man responsible for attacking Tanjiro’s family. Now that we’ve cleared that up, let’s go in Real-time Anime Spoilers.
Are Content Creators Releasing Spoilers To Soon
I get it. Fans that are keeping up with Demon Slayer via Netflix or Hulu understand that spoilers are hard to avoid. After all, our search engines are set up to serve information that we seek/consume on a regular basis. However, fans that have access to the Swordsmith Village Arc shouldn’t have to worry about spoilers within 3 to 5 hrs of it’s air time. In the past, content creators gave a highly anticipated episode about 24 to 48 hours of radio silence. After that, fans scrolled at their own risk.
Not even an hour after I finished the Swordsmith Village finale, I saw several screen recordings with watermarks of spoiler clips from that episode. To make matters worse, it was posted on Instagram three hours before I saw it. I can’t speak for TikTok, but you’ve only got a 3 sec window to scroll post a Demon Slayer spoiler reel on Instagram. In my opinion, a spoiler warning in the descriptions do not count as a far warning. That ext is basically translucent. There’s little to no attempt to say, “Hey you might want to scroll past this.” The desire to be the first person to share a moment that’ll be reposted for weeks disregards fans that couldn’t drop what they were doing to immediately watch the finale.
What’s Next?
Demon Slayer Hashira Training Arc was announced over the weekend. Fans are speculating how long this season will be. Due to the manga content available, there’s a probability the Hashira Training Arc will be shorter than Mugen Train Arc. If that’s the case, I’m curious to see how quickly they’ll announce the highly anticipated Infinity Castle Arc. To be clear, I don’t consider revealing this Arc name a big spoiler. Fans have seen glimpses of it throughout the show. Plus there’s already some fan made animation out there of this Arc. Again, that’s the risk strictly anime watchers take when they scroll anime content with manga spoilers

Final Thoughts
If I know I won’t be able to watch anime when it airs, I take the spoilers as they come. If I can watch in real time, I get aggravated with how fast this spoiler content is shared. It’s one thing if the creator is using info from the manga. That splicing takes more effort, because that information hasn’t been animated yet. It’s a co-existence that strictly anime watchers have to navigate. Fans that finished the manga want to share their thoughts and opinions online too. I just don’t appreciate the creators sharing “same day” screen videos of an episode immediately.
This desire to be the first clip out there robs the viewer that’s avoided manga spoilers. Will this stop, probably not. I just wanted to go in on how annoying this is. If you Demon Slayer is on your watch list, there’s plenty of episodes to keep you out of the Summer heat. Have a great weekend. Hope you’ll stop by for Motivational Mondays with Trisha!
