You know, there’s been a run-on joke about what Mothers really want for Mother’s Day. To do absolutely nothing. To indulge in our favorite hobbies without interruption. To temporarily turn off that Spidey sense of children embarking in reckless behavior. Alas motherhood is a year-round with little to know daily breaks. So, why is it commercialized that we want to go out to brunch.

It’s a nice plan. Until, you realize everyone has the same idea. Now, your kids are uncomfortable and impatiently waiting for a breakfast that could of been made at home. The claustrophobia of the restaurant is on overdrive. Depending on the size of your family, it can get expensive. If we put that issue to the side, theirs still Mom’s daily workload.

Let’s say, you decide you’re going to take the full day off. You’ve now set yourself for a rough Monday. Was it worth it to be put in crank mode before you do anything? I don’t think so.
