This used to be one of my favorite Disney Movies. Although this probably isn’t a fun fact, Wreck-It-Ralph is not a Pixar movie. You’d assume it is, because this arcade themed movie isn’t 2-D like other films. Obviously, you didn’t come here for that rabbit hole. So, let’s get back on track. Wreck It Ralph is another one of those movies that’s been ruined for me because of the amount of times I’ve watched this against my will. Is that mellow dramatic? Of course. Will I stop? Nope.
Ralph Is Not The Bad Guy

At the beginning of the game, they literally show his stump in the middle of the forest. This man is communing with nature. His stump is pushed to a landfill, which is wild to me. Like, trees are biodegradable. Why would you push it to the dump. They very same company builds an apartment complex. In the context of the game, it only seems natural to tear it down.
Felix Is Willfully Unaware of Ralphs Hardships
Fix It Felix is basically a “nice guy” he’s praised by his tenants on a daily basis. He is friends with other classic heroes like Mario, Sonic, and Pacman. Yet, he doesn’t think to invite Ralph to their 30th Anniversary party. In fact, he attempts to get rid of Ralph. Since he has to maintain his “nice guy” image, he reluctantly invites Ralph in. Honestly, it seems like he really tries to minimize his interactions with Ralph outside of business hours.

As long as he’s ignorant to Ralph plite, he doesn’t have to acknowledge it. Hence, the reason he didn’t understand why Ralph game hopped for a medal. This is something he earns regularly through the players actions, which he displays in his apartment. It takes Ralph out right saying how he feels in a Sugar Rush jail cell for Felix to acknowledge it. At this point, were 75 percent done with the movie.
Penelope’s Chief Advisor and Subjects Are Useless
Sour Bill new that Penelope didn’t have to win the race to reset the game. Yes, he didn’t know that she was the Princess. It’s safe to assume, she was an important character in the game. Even if King Candy wins every race, none of the other racers reset the game by crossing the finish line. Yet, he’s content to let her suffer. Since she’s a “glitch” she can’t earn coins from racing during business hours. Hence the reason King Candy made that bogus gold coin rule. Let’s say Penelope found a way to get a vehicle, which she did. The admission fee keeps her out of the race anyways.

To our knowledge, the racers are so obsessed with getting a spot on the avatar board that they don’t leave their game much. After all, Ralph is the one that sees Penelope’s picture on the side of the game counsel. You’d have to be outside of the game to notice something like that. It’s possible that King Candy rigged Sugar Rush to ensure subjects would only leave the game in emergency situations. Either way, these subjects ain’t loyal.
How Many Games Has Turbo Infected?

Ralph and Felix’s game is Thirty Years Old. At least, that’s how long it’s been plugged up at this arcade. Kinda like and old faithful. That’s why Felix is able to explain the cautionary tale to a week old game. It’s not like Turbo laid dormant waiting for a game like Sugar Rush to show up.

It’s likely he learned from trial and error how to infiltrate and take over other arcade games. He even accused Ralph of Going Turbo for getting a Gold Medal from Medal of Heroes. How many MC never made it out of their unplugged games?
Why Did She Put Ralphs Appreciation Cake In The Mud?

I get it these chibi tenants realize that Ralph is more than a bad guy. Felix and him are Ying and Yang. Players can’t fix a building without Felix and players can’t repair a pristine building without Ralphs carnage. So it may behoove them to treat him better. However, putting the cake in the mud seems like a lick back to me. After all, Ralph did wreck her 30th Anniversary Cake. So, I get it, but that still annoys me. Like he’s not an animal.
Final Thoughts
I’ll admit my love for video games made me give Wreck-It-Ralph a chance. The idea that characters are mingling in the powerstrips like it’s a subway/train station was interesting to me. Seeing how the good/evil trope worked outside of business hours was funny to see. The movie did end up having darker themes than expected, but it still ended with sunshine and lollipops.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good movie. That’s my rollercoaster of random thoughts. Is there anything else about Wreck-It-Ralph that I missed? Feel free to mention it below. Thanks for spending time with me. Hope you’ll be back next week for Motivational Mondays with Trisha.
