I’ve been a fan of Retsuko since Netflix debuted Aggretsuko Season One. She represented young woman in there mid-20s trying to survive the corporate world. They say your brain is fully developed by 25 years old. So, the rose tinted glasses kind of break. Sanrio fans come in all ages. Her creation brings in audience that may feel like they’ve aged out of Sanrio. She’s generated wealth for Sanrio in her own right. Still, I wasn’t expecting to see her in-game.
Since Retsuko doesn’t have a direct friendship to the typical Top Ten Sanrio Characters, I was excited to see her on the plane. Retsuko is a fairly young Sanrio Character, but consistently ranks in the Top 40 out of 90 characters. This makes her Island Resident status suprising. I wonder if her Netflix sucess contributed. Either way, Retsuko is supposed to be on a much needed vacation, but Toné won’t let her take it in peace.
To add insult to injury, she’s forced to jump out of the plane with a balloon parachute. Her luggage and much needed stress relief microphone go missing with it. Like many of the Sanrio Characters, Retsuko lands on uncharted territory. Unfortunetally, she doesn’t land at Seaside Resort like many of Hello Kitty’s closest friends.
Instead, she’s on Mount Hothead. By the way, your customizable character can make pizza here and repair resort rooms located here. You won’t have access to every Sanrio Characters right away. That being said, some prefer to stay in climates like Mount Hothead. So you’ll have to get this place up and running like the others. The volcano is dormant, but the Lava is hot. You’ll never see your character harmed in the game, but the game will blackout temporarily and place your characterout of harms way.
The main roster characters don’t know Retsuko that well, but are open to getting to know her. Friend progression with her will help you activate Mount Hothead. It’ll require her karaoke skills. It wont be easy to get her cooperate. Retsuko’s people pleasing tendencies will make her go on some adventures she’d rather not be a part of. On the way, you all find out about her Metal voice. The others will praise her singing which make her more comfortable sharing that side of herself.
Considering Retsuko’s Netflix Series is over, I’m glad fans have another opportunity to spend time with Retsuko in Hello Kitty Island Adventure. Like the other Island Residents, you’ll get to see her friends, family, and coworkers. That’s a nice detail I wasn’t expecting. So, far I’ve only gotten our friendship level to 11, but I can max her out at 20. If you haven’t played it yet, I recommend Hello Kitty Island Adventure.
