Motivational Mondays with Trisha: Gomez and Morticia

You know what surprising about Gomez and Morticia Addams? Their immediate family is pretty happy throughout the comics, animation, and live action reboots. It’s not that they have a perfect family. There’s a love and unity there that is fostered by the parent’s relationship. Morticia and Gomez are borderline obsessed with each other, but they are not neglectful. In fact, the support and encouragement they give each child is commendable. The affection and attention provided aligns with the child’s personality. Sounds like thoughtful parenting to me.

So what’s motivating about Gomez and Morticia Addams. They are seen as relationship goals. The two seems to have a permanent residence in the honeymoon phase. This dynamic may seem unattainable, but I see it as choosing love over anger. Like, a disagreement doesn’t have to turn into a full blown argument. Thoughtfulness and honesty give way to affective communication, when both parties are willing to listen to each other. They are an interesting example of Love Languages in action. Mostly, it felt like a fun way to give y’all a Halloween themed Motivational Mondays with Trisha. Whether you’re a fan of the Addams Family or not, I hope you enjoy!
