Motivational Mondays with Trisha: Inner Child

Last week, I decided to treat my inner child to some art supplies. When I was little, I loved making art. I was good at it, but didn’t think I could make a living off it. Overtime, I dedicated less time to it. You’d assume this regression happened when I’ve became a mother. Truthfully,  it started during my college days. It’s like my mind shifted from creativity to research, which is natural. However, it felt like I left an important piece of me behind. I couldn’t fill that void with cooking and writing.

Art is a part of me that I want back. Family art activities aren’t enough. My inner child needs her own supplies, because she’s allowed to do things that don’t have monetary value. After all, my mother always made the effort to provide art supplies for me. My inner child was accustomed to different creative outlets. I decided it was time to give her what she’s been missing. That’s what inspired today’s post.

I felt like I was doing something that my inner child has wanted for the both of us. I wondered if others felt this way. Like they’d given up something that could of tagged along into their adult years. That’s just some food for thought from me.
