Growth can be spurred by a deeper understanding of our community, but you’ll eventually hit a wall. To overcome, it’s important to embrace humanities diversity. Uncle Iroh uses this thought process to neutralize a fatal blow developed by the fire nation. In fact, studying water bending helped him figure out how to redirect lightning. For successfully redirecting lightning is just as dangerous as conjuring it. This fictional example reminded me that social understanding is enlightening. Art at times imitates reality. Obviously, the real world is made up of more than four nations. There are sociopolitical issues within Avatar The Last Airbender that are similar to historical events, as well as human nature from different extremes. The storyline makes it difficult to determine, which nation’s way of life was better. Despite their descriptions all four are flawed. That’s why I decided to share it Uncle Iroh’s lesson. I felt that each nation had insperational elements that could be broken down in more detail at a later date.
