Hello readers, I’m proud to say I am projected to surpass my blogs views from 2012 this year. Those following my blogs journey know that Magnify Your Style started in 2012. I’ve been working hard to get my views back to Day One Performance. So, I periodically check my analytics. This lets me know what’s resonating with y’all. That’s how I remembered StumbleUpon. Before Pinterest dominated traffic to my site, StumbleUpon was pulling it’s weight. Yet, I haven’t used it for a decade.

What’s StumbleUpon?
Think about how your news feed operates for TikTok and Instagram, but with a web browser. StumbleUpon was like an RRS feed but asthetically pleasing. Like most so social media apps, your let StumbleUpon know what you’d like to read,/view on a daily basis. The website would pull info from the web, as well as, content uploaded by users.

This was a useful tool for bloggers that wanted to grow their audience, connect with other content creators, and expand their access outside of default web browsers. Of all the accounts that I had to create for my fashion blogging internship, StumbleUpon was the most useful, because it helped my find websites like Wanelo and LemonCrate.
Where Did It Go?
I’m not sure if the shift from websites to apps hurt StumbleUpon. I know that web layouts on smartphones are harder to navigate than apps. Overtime, I gradually forgot about StumbleUpon, because I’d have to login to my laptop to use it. Last month I found out StumbleUpon rebranded. Out of curiosity, I wanted to see if StumbleUpon was still around.

It’s not unusual for websites to turn into broken links. So my search pulled up Mix. It’s likely the company didn’t want to loose StumbleUpon’s digital foot print. The older a website is the higher they rank on search engines without paying for top billing. Plus, Mix didn’t stray away from the old websites mechanics.
What Happened To My Account
Sadly, I wasn’t able to recover my StumbleUpon account. Currently, Mix has a little over 100K curators. Still, the app offers to generate an account with a social media account, a Gmail account, or a unique username/email input by the user. That made getting started quick and easy.

Once you’re set up, you can start scrolling. There’s a few things that you can do. Like Pandora Radio, you can 👍🏾 or 👎🏾 posts. In most cases, these will be photo or video posts. Users can comment and share the post as well. Hashtags are hyperlinked to take you to similar content. Creators can use the plus symbol to submit links for Mix as well. I plan to take advantage of this.
Final Thoughts
I don’t mind expanding my tools for making fresh content for y’all. Even when you write about things that interest you, you can still hit a wall. When writers block happens, I hopequest or do things that interest me. A change of pace gives me fresh eyes. If I’m lucky, my spiderweb like train of thought will get a bite. Yep that’s an all-in-one spider train and fishing reference. If you had a StumbleUpon are you using Mix?

Sharing is caring! Let me know what you think.
