You know what’s a bit annoying about YouTube Kids, some content creators with bad intentions try to put teen/adult content on that platform. Blocking specific content creators doesn’t necessarily stop kids from getting access to it. Because these blocks don’t include collabs done on other channels. So it’s an aggravating fight between parent and an entertainment app. That’s why I was surprised to find shows my kids watched on YouTube Kids available to stream on PeacockTV.
Why Am I Still Paying For PeacockTV?
Since my first annual subscription with PeacockTV the streaming services rates have gradually gone up. True to form it can still be accessed for free, but most of its content is behind a paywall. For now, I’m willing to put up with it, because PeacockTV doesn’t have a screen limit. Like my reup last year, available content for my kids was a big factor. They use PeacockTV the most. Plus, their streaming with ads package still fits within the mid range of their competition. Lastly, having a more secure place for my kids to enjoy YouTube Kids content is a plus.
When Did I Figure Out YouTube Kids Was On Peacock Kids
Late August, I decided to go from an annual subscription to a monthly one. Earlier I mentioned the annual rate went up, I didn’t mind the price hike, I just didn’t feel like paying for an annual subscription anymore. Long story short, I had to deactivate my account and start a new one with a different email. As I was logging out of my kids devices and signing in with the new accounts, the app was suggesting content for them. That’s when I noticed familiar YouTube Kids shows on Peacock Kids. Around this time, u was considering removing YouTube Kids from their devices. So this news helped nail the coffin on the extra app.

Unbeknownst to me, the YouTube Kids app is going away. Parents will have to access their kids account from the YouTube app. In my opinion, this move will make it easier for tech savvy kids to access regular YouTube. Luckily, I already got rid of this app anyways. Parents that preferred the separation may want to consider trying out Peacock Kids.
Final Thoughts
It’s funny things seem like they don’t exist till we see it with our own eyes. My technical issues with Peacock TV brought YouTube Kids content to light. That’s how I choose to see it. I do wonder what YouTube Kids gets out of it. Sharing content on Peacock Kids reduces the chances of kids app hopping. Either way, I hope the family’s that are curating these shows benefit from the partnership. After all, YouTube itself is a hub for creators to share their audio visual content. Technically, it doesn’t make anything. In the words of Biggie Smalls, “If You Don’t Know, Now You Know.
