I am proud to say I picked out and bought food that I liked or needed. That might sound strange, but hear me out. I am a wife and a mother. Right of the top, there are a handful of individuals I am constantly thinking about. It’s very easy to compartmentalize my needs in favor of theirs. It’s important to mention that my family doesn’t expect me to do that. This is pretty self imposed.
Since I struggle with keeping my needs in the equation, I felt like sharing this tiny victory. I bought protein smoothies and cream cheese, because I wanted it. I grabbed steak tomatoes for tomato sandwiches. The value sized brown sugar oatmeal called out to me. I scored the last two cups of my favorite instant Pho. Individual slices of chocolate pudding pie and white chocolate caramel squares are chilling in my freezer. All of these things have pretty low monetary value. You’d be surprised how often I’ll shop and instantly forget what I like. Sifting through my mind led to buying items because I wanted it. They weren’t tethered to my spouse or children. That is a small victory to me.
This week I want you to acknowledge and celebrate your small victories. It’s so easy to be bogged down by our pitfalls that we get trapped in these figurative holes without a ladder insight.
