I’ll be honest, I had every intention of sharing quotes from Sunrise on the Reaping, by Suzanne Collins, but was hard pressed to find motivational ones. To be fair, this book is about Haymitch Abernathy, a District 12 Victor that wasn’t reaped for the 50th Hunger Games. Unlike Katniss Everdeen, he did not volunteer. Considering the Hunger Games series ends with the 75th Hunger Games, it would be hard to see the positive in reliving the Second Qaurter Quell every year till the 74th Hunger Games.
Instead, we’ll focus on Sunrise, the first word of that title. If you’ve read Haymich’s story, you may appreciate what Sunrise represents in our first quote. Light and Dark. Yin and Yang. They balance each other out. Like Darkness is the end of the day, Sunrise is the beginning. Neither can be avoided. We can’t stop time, but we can look toward the light. If you’re in dark place right now, I hope these words reach you.
