“I will and I am have two different meanings.”
Patricia, Magnify Your Style
About four months ago, I had a conversation with Wendy Longoria, my holistic health coach, about my plans for Magnify Your Style. I kept saying I will blah blah blah. She let me know that will is future tense but it doesn’t create immediate action; whereas, “I am” implies actively doing something toward my goal. It’s like speaking plans into fruition as we take steps towards completing our goals. Her blunt call out caught me off guard, but she had a point. The phrase “I will” has it’s place. Not everything I plan to do is ready for the “I am” category. One statement holds more progressive weight than the other.
So far, I accomplished three of my goals for 2022. One, I am publishing two post a week. Two, I have a new logo. Three, I created a Ko-fi account. All were accomplished within three months of my heart to heart with Wendy. My fourth goal is a monthly Newsletter. I’ll admit, this goal is still being motivated by “I will” statements. Summer’s halfway mark (Solstice) will be here soon. Technically, I’ve researched how I want to disturb it and what it will contain. I haven’t selected my plug-in or started setting up the first issue. I need to get a move on. Otherwise, I’ll miss my thru date.
Last week, we took a break from the motivational quotes for some humor. Sharing my confrontation with “I will” versus “I am” felt like the right way to return to Motivational Mondays. If you set goals that are gathering dust on the shelf, I hope this week’s quotes revitalizes you.
