Motivational Mondays with Trisha: Hygge

There’s something soothing about a soft throw blanket, a cup of coffee, and your favorite book on a chilly day. Sometimes, these moments are few and far between. The the peace that comes from it brings out a feeling that I try to hold on to. Did you know the word for that feeling is Hygge. The sad truth about Hygge is we don’t make enough time to create moments for it. Sometimes, it’s restricted to a particular time of year. When in fact, Hygge can be invoked year-round. If you’re hunting down an achievable and maintainable resolution, consider embarking on a Hygge lifestyle change. This doesn’t take extreme measures. Nor is it a cookie cutter outlook on life. Joy that is cultivated from simplicity is not a one size fits all. I encourage you to do the following:

  • Reflect on things, places, and activities that have brought you joy in the past [that does not cause physical, mental, or emotional harm to others]
  • Acknowledge how often you make time for it
  • Decide if it’s plausible to cultivate more moments rooted in simplicity
  • Go forth and prosper

If that is not what you came for, please enjoy this week’s selection of Motivational Quotes.
