Motivational Mondays with Trisha: Release

Are you holding onto counter productive thoughts? These can be moments that steal your joy. They have the power to negate all the good things that happened to you. Sometimes they are triggered. For some reason they have the master key. No knock required. These uninvited guest catch us off guard. I’d love to say that there is a fool proof way to get rid of them. If that’s what you wanted to hear, I can’t promise that. However, you can self regulate. Similar to the last week’s gratitude method, there are minimal effort things that can make a difference.

For starters, determine how long you are going to wallow in it. Acknowledging the moment is better than ignoring it. Trying to ignore it prolongs overcoming it. Two, identify triggers. What was going on before the thought appeared? What were you doing? It doesn’t have to be a person. Sometimes it’s our environment. Once you identify it, determine whether it’s outside of your control. In a perfect world, we’d have the capability to shield ourselves from these things. That’s not tangible. That is why this week’s motivational quotes are inspired by the word release.

Let go of the things that you can control. By doing so, you release your mind from the negative moments vice grip. Some moments won’t give up that easily, but it doesn’t mean they have the right to steal your joy.
